Women’s Hoops Falls At Rivier

NASHUA, NH: The Anna Maria College women's basketball team lost 86-69 at Rivier University on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Muldoon Center in Nashua, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS:

THE GAME WAS DECIDED WHEN:

  • The Raiders led 27-10 earlier in the second quarter before the AMCATS rallied to pull within single digits going into halftime, with Anna Maria senior guard Mariah Carey (Worcester, MA) hitting a pair of three-pointers in the final minutes of the opening half. Rivier opened the second half with a 16-2 run, however, and the visitors were unable to threaten again.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria freshman forward Marinique Reddin (Tampa, FL) turned in another strong outing with 17 points and nine rebounds, both team-highs for the AMCATS.    
  • Anna Maria senior guard Franchesca Hammond (Worcester, MA) filled the stat-line with 12 points, eight boards, three assists and a steal.
  • Carey finished with 11 points for the AMCATS, with a trio of three-pointers.
  • Rivier sophomore forward Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) led the Raiders with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Anna Maria will be back on the court on Monday when they host Dean in a 7:00 p.m. game.
