Grasso, Armstead Voted GNAC All-Conference

PAXTON, MA: Senior guard Ralph Grasso, Jr. (Marlborough, MA) and sophomore forward Gabe Armstead (Dallas, GA) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team were recognized in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason accolades as announced by the conference on Monday.

Grasso, a team captain this year, was voted All-GNAC third team after leading the AMCATS with 15.0 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals. He was named the GNAC Player of the Week for the week ending November 28th after scoring a career-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting against Clark University. Grasso finished his time as an AMCAT with 943 career points, the 25th most in school history.

Armstead was voted to the GNAC All-Rookie Team after being named conference Rookie of the Week three times this season. The first year player averaged 14.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game for the AMCATS, turning in the best statistical season for a first-year Anna Maria player since former AMCAT great Mike Rapoza (Class of 2020). His 53 blocks on the season led the GNAC, and are the fourth-most in a single season in school history.

In addition, senior guard Kennedy Minix-Rogers (Smyrna, GA) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team. Minix-Rogers showed why he's one of the best ball distributors in the region, leading the GNAC in assists per game at 6.0 and ranking second in the conference in total assists and in assists-to-turnover ratio. The senior guard hit four clutch free throws in the final seconds of Anna Maria's 62-55 win over Emmanuel in the GNAC quarterfinals.

The 2021-2022 season was an outstanding year for the AMCATS. With a 15-11 record, they finished with their highest win total since 2016, and their best winning percentage since 2012.

Congratulations to the whole team on a great season.
