Men’s Basketball Opens 2022 With OT Loss At Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, NH : The Anna Maria College men's basketball team opened the 2022 calendar year with a 98-90 overtime loss at Colby -Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in New London, New Hampshire.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria rookie guard Bryson Grenon (Sutton, MA) led the AMCATS with a career-high 23 points, shooting five-of-seven from behind the arc while pulling down four rebounds and coming away with two steals.
  • Anna Maria senior guard and team captain Ralph Grasso, Jr. (Marlborough, MA) finished with 22 points and five boards. As of press time, Grasso leads the AMCATS in scoring for the season with 17.5 points per game.
  • Anna Maria sophomore forward Gabe Armstead (Dallas, GA) continued to prowl the paint with 12 points, ten rebounds, five assists and two blocks for the AMCATS. It is Armstead's second career double-double.

  • Colby-Sawyer senior guard Deondre Smith (Garland, TX) was one of three Chargers to score 20-plus points, leading their comeback with 26 points.
  • Colby-Sawyer junior forward Omar Boone (Colorado City, TX) posted 20 points with 12 rebounds.
  • The Chargers shot 18-of-20 from the free throw line, while the AMCATS scored only nine points off 14 attempts.
