Men’s Basketball Hunts Down Bears, 98-85

BRIDGEWATER, MA : The Anna Maria College men's basketball team won 98-85 over Bridgewater State University on Saturday in the consolation game of the B.S.U. Cave Classic in Bridgewater.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria sophomore forward Gabe Armstead (Dallas, GA), last week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, led the AMCATS with 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, all while shooting 10-of-18 from the floor.
  • Anna Maria senior guard Ralph Grasso, Jr. (Marlborough, MA) finished with 20 points, shooting 8-of-14 from the floor and fifty percent from behind the arc.
  • Anna Maria senior guard Kennedy Minix-Rogers (Smyrna, GA) scored 18 points, dished out eight assists and tallied six rebounds with three steals.
  • Senior guard Alan Pettway (Worcester, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with 21 points to go along with two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Graduate guard Jordan Wetterlind (Twig, Minn.) added 14 points and three rebounds for the Bears, while freshman center Camden Dunbury (Pocasset, Mass.) notched 11 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.
  • Up 53-46 at the half, Anna Maria used a 9-3 run in the closing minutes to put the game away, capped off with a three-pointer from sophomore guard Trevian Grenon (Sutton, MA) with 3:41 to go.
  • For the day, the AMCATS forced 28 turnovers by the Bears, leading to 29 points.
