Armstead Earns Third GNAC Rookie Of The Week

PAXTON, MA: Sophomore forward Gabe Armstead (Dallas, GA) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 20, 2022, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Armstead was a dominant force as the AMCATS finished their regular season on a high note, averaging 22 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the floor in wins over Emmanuel (56-46) and Elms (86-70). The rookie's performance helped lead Anna Maria to a fourth seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.

It is Armstead's third conference Rookie of the Week award, having previously been so recognized for the weeks ending November 14th and December 5th. As of press time, Armstead leads the AMCATS in rebounding (8.0 rpg), blocks (2.1 bpg) and double-doubles (six) and is second on the team in scoring average (15.1 ppg). He leads the entire GNAC in blocks and blocks per game.
