Five In A Row: Men’s Basketball Beats Norwich

NORTHFIELD, VT: The Anna Maria College men's basketball team won their fifth straight game with a 76-69 win at Norwich on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in Northfield, Vermont.

THE BASICS:

  • Records: AMCATS of Anna Maria 9-6, 6-3 GNAC | Cadets of Norwich 9-8, 4-5 GNAC

TURNING POINT:

  • The AMCATS led by as much as 19 early in the second half before the Cadets rallied with a 14-1 run. Norwich pulled to within five with 3:41 to go, but Anna Maria answered with baskets by junior guard Sean Etienne (Lawrence, MA) and senior forward Hayden Braga (Foster, RI) and held on for the win.

 

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria sophomore forward Gabe Armstead (Dallas, GA) led the AMCATS with a double-double, scoring 14 points, pulling down 13 rebounds, swatting away three blocks while adding two steals and two assists.
  • Anna Maria sophomore guard Jakai Alexandre (Fitchburg, MA) added 14 points while senior guard Ralph Grasso, Jr. (Marlborough, MA) added 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
  • Norwich senior forward Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, GA) led all scorers with 27 points and nine rebounds.
  • Norwich senior guard Kyle Booth (Northfield, VT) added 18 points and nine boards.
  • The AMCATS won the turnover battle, with a 15-4 edge in points off turnovers.
  • With five straight wins, it is Anna Maria's longest winning streak since they won six straight late in the 2018-2019 season.
