Field Hockey and Volleyball Qualify for ECAC New England Semifinals

PAXTON, Mass.—After hard-fought seasons both the AMCAT Field Hockey and Volleyball teams have earned spots to compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament. The 2015 ECAC Fall Championships will feature 13 championship events in four sports, including women's volleyball, field hockey, and men's and women's soccer.

FIELD HOCKEY

Field Hockey concluded their regular season with an overall record of 13-6 and 4-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The AMCATS traveled to Maine to take on Saint Joseph's College in the GNAC Semifinal Tournament game where the dropped to the Monks 3-1. Following this successful season six AMCATS were named to GNAC All-Conference Teams and they were awarded a place in the ECAC tournament along with Smith College, Wheelock College and Salve Regina University.

The AMCAT Field Hockey team will travel to North Hampton, Mass. to take on the Seahawks of Salve Regina University on Saturday, November 14 in the New England Semi-Final game starting at 3:00 p.m. Wheelock will play Smith at 12:00 p.m. that day and the winners of both games will play each other in the Championship game held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

The Volleyball team earned their first bid to the ECAC tournament this season after concluding the regular season with an overall record of 17-14 and 7-4 in conference play. The AMCATS traveled to Emmanuel to take on the Saints in the Quarterfinal match where the dropped a 3-0 final.

On Saturday, November 14 the AMCATS will travel to North Adams, Mass. to take on the Gulls of Endicott College at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in the ECAC New England Semi-Final match.  MCLA will take on Lesley College at 1:00 p.m. that day and the winners of both matches will meet in the Championship round at 3:00 p.m.
