Volleyball Caps Scranton Tournament with 3-0 Win against Cedar Crest

SCRANTON, Pa.—The Anna Maria College volleyball team traveled for a four-match, two-day tournament held by the University of Scranton this weekend. The AMCATS finished 1-3 over the two days and capped the weekend with a 3-0 win against Cedar Crest on Saturday afternoon.

MATCH ONE – ANNA MARIA vs. PITT-BRADFORD

The AMCATS dropped the first two sets, 25-9 and 25-18, before rallying for a 25-20 win in game three. Anna Maria battled in the fourth frame, but fell 25-19 to put the victory in Pitt-Bradford's column.

Anna Maria totaled 21 kills in the game, including five apiece from sophomores Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) and Telliah Bursie (Cheektowaga, N.Y.). Senior setter Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) dished out 17 assists.

Pitt-Bradford saw a match-high eight kills from Kirsten Platz.

MATCH TWO – ANNA MARIA vs. SCRANTON

The AMCATS dropped three-straight games to the hosts by scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-18.

Anna Maria was led by Bursie and senior Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, Mass.), who totaled four kills each. Parker dished out 11 assists, while freshman Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) paced the defense with a team-best 14 digs.

Scranton's Samantha Klug tallied eight kills, while setter Bailey Woods dished out a match-best 24 assists.

MATCH THREE – ANNA MARIA vs. OSWEGO STATE

Oswego State won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-22 before Anna Maria took a 27-25 win in game three. A 25-19 win for Oswego in the fourth game sealed the victory for the Lakers.

The AMCATS totaled 32 kills in the match, including eight from Bursie and seven from Freshman Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.). Parker dished out 30 assists.

Oswego was paced by Emma Moriarty with a match-high 10 kills.

MATCH FOUR – ANNA MARIA vs. CEDAR CREST

The AMCATS downed Cedar Crest 3-0 in the tournament's nightcap. More information will be provided when available.
