MCLA Blazes to 3-1 win against Volleyball

North Adams, Mass. - The MCLA volleyball team set a program record by notching their 12th straight win as they defeated visiting Anna Maria College 3-1 this evening in non conference action.

The Trailblazers improve to 13-3 on the season while the AMCATS fall to 7-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

MCLA took the final three sets after Anna Maria took game one 25-23.  The Trailblazers responded by winning 25-14, 25-22, and 25-19 to close out the win.

The pivotal set was game three when AMC held a 22-19 advantage following an MCLA error.  The Trailblazers wouldn't panic though as they earned the next six points to take command.  They benefitted from a pair of attack errors and when Angelica Perfido notched a kill, MCLA had a 2-1 set lead.

In the third set with the game tied at 15, MCLA took ultimate control.  A Margaret Allen ace started it and following an attack error by the AMCATS, MCLA led 19-15.  The visitors wouldn't get within more than three and the Trailblazers closed it out after a Brittney Pihl ace and another attack error to earn the win.

AMCAT LEADERS

The AMCATS were led by Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, Mass.) with 11 kills.  Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) notched a match-high 29 assists while Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) tallied 17 digs.  Parker, Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, N.Y.), and Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) all had double digit digs as well.
