Raiders Shutout Women's Soccer, 5-0

NASHUA, N.H.— The Rivier University Women's Soccer team found the back of the net five times in route to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory this evening over visiting Anna Maria College at Raider Field.

The 5-0 final lifts the Raiders' overall record to 5-8-1 and 3-7 in the GNAC. Anna Maria falls to 3-11-1, 1-7-1 GNAC with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rivier's Maggie Cohoon scored two first-half goals to give the Raiders a strong foundation. The hosts would add three goals in the second half, including two by Paxton Larocque in the 66th and 77th minutes.

The Raiders held a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) led the AMCATS with five shots on goal.

GOALKEEPERS

Sophomore Lauren Goodspeed came up big for Rivier in a couple of late breakaway opportunities from Anna Maria as she finished with eight saves for her first shutout of the season. AMCAT goalkeeper Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) made 10 saves on the evening.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Raiders, winners in three of their past four games, will return to action on Saturday afternoon when Lasell College arrives at Raider Field for a 6:00 p.m. start time. Anna Maria will also be in GNAC action on Saturday when they host Simmons in a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
