Women's Soccer Shutout by Falcon's 5-0

NEW HAVEN, CONN. — The Anna Maria College Women's Soccer team dropped 5-0 in their first conference game of the season to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss the AMCATS even their overall record at 2-2 and drop to 0-1 in the conference while the win evens the Pilgrims overall record to 1-1-1 on the season and lifts them to 1-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED

After a full half of play the AMCATS and Falcons entered halftime scoreless, but the Falcons came back firing as they put five points on the board in the second half. Albertus Magnus spread out their scoring amongst five different players while the Anna Maria defense struggled to keep them out of their end. The AMCAT offense could not get a shot off on goal while the Falcons posted a total of 24 shots on goal

 

SCORING

After a scoreless first half Albertus Magnus took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Victoria Lavery (West Haven, Conn.) put away her first goal of the season off of a headed assist from teammate Acacia Nelson (Bridgeport, Conn.).
The second goal came in the 59th minute of play when Falcon's offender Amanda Montano (North Haven, Conn.) found the back of the net off of an assist from Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.).
Just six minutes later the Falcons fired one into the net after a long corner kick came from Piccirillo and was put away by Falcon's offender, Bridget Judd (Branford, Conn.).
The fourth goal of the game was scored five minutes later as Falcon's Taylor Bisaillon (Columbia, Conn.) received a pass from Alexya Alves (Naugatuck, Conn.) and ultimately put it past AMC netminder, Ashlee Jarominski (Dudley, Mass.).
The final goal of the game came with just five minutes remaining of play when Morgan Gigliotti (Walcott, Conn.) got one past the Jarominski after receiving a pass from teammate, Bianca Stefanacci (Milford, Conn.).
 
NETMINDERS

 

Picking up the shutout win in goal for Albertus Magnus was Maria Case who did not see a shot on net. In her first game in goal for Anna Maria was sophomore Ashlee Jarominski who picked up 19 saves on the day
