Volleyball Heads to ECAC Tournament

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the Division III Women's Volleyball championship field on Monday. Marymount University will be the overall top-seed in the 2016 ECAC Division III Women's Volleyball Championship. The championship field will be broken out into four regions for first round play beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

In Region 4, the No. 1 seed, Emerson College (17-11) will face No. 4 seed Morrisville State College (21-10) while No. 2 seed, Manhattanville College (17-9) will match up against No. 3 seed Anna Maria College (21-11).

The AMCATS finished the regular season with a 21-11 overall record and an 8-3 record in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Their GNAC quarterfinal victory over Saint Joseph's marked the first ever playoff victory in program history. They also posted the most wins in a season in the programs 25-year history.

The tournament will begin on Wednesday with eight first-round matches, coming at four pre-determined sites. The tournament will move to one site for the weekend, with four quarterfinal matches slated for Saturday and the semifinals and championship match following on Sunday. The site for the weekend's games would be determined after Wednesday's first-round games, based on what higher-seeded teams declared to host.

The winners of each round will move on to the quarterfinals which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The AMCATS will face Manahattanville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9 at Emerson College.
