AMCATS Snap 12-Match Winless Streak to Lesley with 3-0 Victory

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College volleyball tandem of Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) andAmari King (Lawrence, Mass.) combined for 33 kills as the AMCATS downed the Lynx of Lesley University 3-0 on Thursday evening.

The win boosts the AMCATS to 12-7, while Lesley falls to 3-10.

THE SERIES

Prior to tonight's match, the Lynx had won 12-straight matches over the AMCATS in the annual meeting between the teams. Anna Maria's last win against Lesley was a 3-1 victory in 2003. Seven of Lesley's wins in their streak were by scores of 3-0.

AMCAT LEADERS

Foti tallied 17 kills on a .424 hitting percentage and King was close behind with 16 kills on a .467 hitting effort.

Setter Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) dished out 32 assists.

The AMCATS totaled 11 service aces as a team, led by King and Foti with three apiece. Clancy and Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) both finished with two, while Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) tallied one for the 24th point of the final set.

LYNX LEADERS

Lesley saw nine kills from Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) and seven from Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.). Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) dished out 15 assists, while Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded a match-high 10 digs.

Anna Maria returns to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday when they travel to Lasell for a tri-match against the Lasers and Rivier. First match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
