King, Foti and Clancy Earn All-Conference Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Anna Maria College sophomore outside hitter Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) has been selected as the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league's 12 head coaches. The league office handed down the announcement on Tuesday along with its three All-Conference Teams and other major award winners. Teammates, Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) and Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) were also recognized in this year's selection as they were named to the GNAC All-Conference Second team.

King led all GNAC student-athletes with 4.80 kills per set, including 5.32 kills per set in league play. She was also sixth in hitting percentage (.265) and 13th in digs per set (3.05) for the AMCATS, who finished third in the regular-season standings and earned a spot in the conference semifinals. She was named the GNAC Player of the Week four times this season. King was also named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Foti is a junior outside hitter who has recently been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ First Team. She is ranked second in the league in kills with 449 and kills per set with 4.01 just behind King. Foti remains a major contributor to the AMCAT offense this season.

A freshman setter, Clancy earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors twice this season. She ranks third in the league for assists per set with 9.21 and fifth in service aces per set with 0.56. Clancy is a major contributor to the AMCAT offense this season as she has totaled 1,013 assists and 62 service aces.
