Volleyball Charges to 3-0 Win over Lions

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's volleyball team fell to Anna Maria College 3-0 in non-conference action Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The Lions dip to 3-9 overall while the AMCATS improve to 11-6 on the year. Anna Maria has won nine out of their last 10 matches. 

AMCAT LEADERS 

Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) recorded a match-high 17 kills and added 10 digs for Anna Maria while Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) chipped in with 11 kills.

Freshman setter Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) dished out 29 assists for Anna Maria, while sophomore Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) aided the defense with 11 digs. 

EASTERN NAZARENE LEADERS 

Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) notched a team-high five kills while adding seven digs and one ace. Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) registered 10 digs on the night to lead the squad defensively. Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) tallied 15 assists on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Anna Maria claimed the opening set 25-12 to establish a 1-0 lead in the match. The visitors stretched their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-18 decision in the second frame. The AMCATS coasted to a 25-6 win in the third set, winning the set by a 19-point margin, the largest of Anna Maria's season thus far. 

The AMCATS finished with 34 team kills and just eight errors to post a .325 hitting percentage. They also tallied 11 service aces as a team, led by Clancy and Foti with three each. 

Anna Maria held Eastern Nazarene to just 17 kills over the course of the match. Coupled with 19 errors, the Lions finished with a negative hitting percentage.

Anna Maria has a break in their schedule and will not hit the court over the next five days. They return to action on Tuesday, October 4th in a 7:00 p.m. home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match against Johnson & Wales.
