Saints Sweep AMCATS in GNAC Action

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack to down Anna Maria College, 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-16), in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Jean Yawkey Center. With the win, the Saints improve to 12-15 on the year and 6-3 in the GNAC while the loss drops the AMCATS to 2-20 and 0-10 in the GNAC.

EC set the tone early behind the service of senior outside hitter Clare Bucci (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.), jumping ahead to a 9-0 lead in the first set before the AMCATS would get on the board. The Saints were able to hit .400 as a team in the set as senior middle hitter Moriah Logan (Halifax, Mass.) led the way with six kills and an impressive .857 hitting clip.

Freshman middle hitter Brittany Tutalo (Johnston, R.I.) picked up where Logan left off in the second set, establishing a strong middle with five kills and a .625 hitting clip.  The hosts were also able to serve up three aces en route to the 25-14 win.
A kill by freshman outside hitter Alyssa Heberman (Boca Raton, Fla.) gave the AMCATS their first lead of the match to open the third set but it was short lived as EC pushed ahead to a 4-1 lead following an ace by senior libero Yun-Ting Lee (Keelung, Taiwan). The Saints were never threatened the rest of the way as they were able to cruise to the 25-16 win and 3-0 sweep in the match.
Tutalo and Logan both finished with a match-high eight kills while senior outside hitter Nathalie Victoria (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with five kills. Sophomore setter Allison Donnelly (Longmeadow, Mass.) dished out 20 assists in the win while Lee collected a team-high 16 digs.

Haberman was one of four AMCATS to register three kills while freshman setter Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) dished out 11 helpers. Sophomore libero Kelly Delaney (Charlton, Mass.) recorded a match-high 18 digs in the loss.
