Blue Jays Tip AMCATS in Women's Volleyball

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Saint Joseph sophomore Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had 14 kills against only four hitting errors on 28 total swings as USJ defeated Anna Maria College 3-0 Wednesday in a GNAC match at the O'Connell Center. 

Scores by set were 25-11, 25-19, 25-14. Saint Joseph improved to 5-12 overall and 1-2 in the GNAC. Anna Maria is 1-15 and 0-6.

Emily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) had six aces to lead a strong serving game as USJ had 17 aces on the night. Liz Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) served four aces and Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had three to go along with a match-high 20 assists.
Samantha Edwon (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and Amanda Dondero (Mastic, N.Y.) each had five kills for the Blue Jays and Perez had a match-high 12 digs.
For Anna Maria, Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, Mass.) had a team-high six kills and Alex Rodriguez (Southbridge, Mass.) had four. Kelly Delaney (Charlton, Mass.) had 10 digs for the Amcats.
Saint Joseph hosts a tri-match Sat. Oct. 6 against Rivier and Lasell, beginning at 11 a.m. Anna Maria plays at Pine Manor, Saturday at noon.
