AMCATS Drop Two at Mount Ida Tri-Match

Newton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference matches at host Mount Ida College and visiting Albertus Magnus College.

In game two featuring the visiting teams, Albertus Magnus College captured a 3-0 sweep Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory over Anna Maria College by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-12 sending the Falcons home with a 1-1 slate for the day (7-7, 1-4 GNAC).  The AMCATS fall to an overall record of 1-13, 0-4 in league action. 

Albertus Magnus was led offensively by Pendergast with 10 kills on 25 attempts with three errors also adding a solo block and two block assists.  Manning and freshman defensive specialist Alyssa Puccilli (Derby, CT/Foran) tallied 11 digs each.  Senior Krista LaBsiioniere (Meriden, CT/O.H. Platt) dished out 14 assists.

For Anna Maria, senior middle hitter Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, MA/Presentation of Mary Academy) recorded a team-high seven kills and three digs.  Freshmen Samantha Parker (Athol, MA/Mahar Regional) and Brittany Jackson (Larchmont, NY/Mamaroneck) notched eight digs each.  Park also added 10 assists respectively.  

Game three went the way of the hosts with another 3-0 sweep this time against the visiting AMCATS by scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18 to finish off the day improving Mount Ida's overall record to 5-10, 3-2 in league play. Anna Maria leaves Newton, Massachusetts still searching for their first GNAC victory (0-5) with a 2012 slate of 1-14. 

The Mustangs were led offensively by freshman hitter Haley Paradis (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnett) with eight kills on 25 attempts adding six digs as well. Mount Ida sophomore setter Nicole Peixoto (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford) dished out 25 assisted while sophomore Shay Collins (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) tallied a team high 11 digs.

 For the AMCATS, junior hitter Jackie Clinton (Walpole, MA/Walpole) added seven kills on 32 attepts with four digs respectively. Jackson notched a game-high 21 digs while junior setter Kayla Cummings (Auburn, ME/Edward Little) dished out 10 assists.
