Emerson Outlasts Women's Volleyball, 3-0

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria AMCATS dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-8) decision to the conference leading Emerson Lions in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's volleyball action Monday night at Fuller Activities Center. With the win the Lions remain undefeated in the conference at 7-0, 13-8 overall, while the AMCATS slip to 2-17 (0-8 GNAC).

In the first set freshman Samantha Parker  led the AMCATS with six assists and two digs while Brianna LaRegina landed 3 kills. Emerson was led by setter Juliana Tucker who dished out 12 assists, Alyssa Thorne scored five kills in the game. Leading 8-6 in the first stanza, the Lions went on a 12-4 run to break the game open, Jamie Morgan had two aces in the run.

The Lions duplicated the game one score for game two. The AMCATS tied the score at 9-9 after a pair of kills by Alex Rodriguez but a run of four consecutive defensive errors led the Lions to an 18-13 lead en route to a game two victory.

In the third set, Emerson roared to a 10-4 and cruised to a 25-8 win.

The AMCATS were led by setter Samantha Parker's 11 assists, 5 digs and four kills, while Alex Rodriguez had a game-high nine digs, 3 kills and 3 assists.  

Emerson's Tucker had a match high 25 assists, while Kat Rice and Alyssa Thorne had double digit kills with 10 and 11 respectfully.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday when they host Gordon College on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
