Vollyball Drops Season Opener

PAXTON, Mass. - The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team lost to Eastern Nazarene College 3-2 in 5 sets (14-25, 13-25, 25-22, 25-23, 8-15) during their home opener on Wednesday night at The Fuller Activities Center. The loss drops the AMCATS' record at 0-1, while the Colonels start their season 1-0.

After the Lions took game one by the score of 25-14 and followed that with a 25-13 win, the AMCATS regrouped in game three with a 25-22 win. The combination of senior co-captain Nichole Robbie (Bellingham, Mass) and junior Sandy Acosta (Lawrence, Mass) paced the AMCATS with 3 aces and 6 kills
in the game.

In the 4th game the AMCATS battled again to pull out the 25-23 win. Senior setter Alicia Bonneau (Worcester, Mass) controlled the offensive zone picking up 10 assists while Acosta had 8 kills in the game.

The AMCATS starter the 5th and deciding set with the match momentum, however, the Lions were able to withstand the charge and claim the win.

The AMCATS return to action on Tuesday September 6th when they host Southern Vermont.
