Sharks Swim Past Women's Soccer, 3-0

BRIGHTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College Women's Soccer team dropped 3-0 to Simmons College in conference action on Saturday afternoon at Daly Field. With the loss the AMCATS drop to 2-12 overall and 1-8 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. The Sharks improve to 7-6-2 overall and 6-3 in the GNAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED?

The Sharks saw goals from three different team members to lift them to victory over the AMCATS. Simmons scored two first half goals and notched one in the second en route to gaining their sixth shutout of the season. The Sharks outshot Anna Maria 51-2 (29-2 on goal) and earned 18 corner kicks to the AMCATS two.

SCORING

Ciara Ford notched her fourth goal of the season 17 minutes into play as she collected the ball at the left post and put it past AMCAT netminder Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine). Just ten minutes later the Sharks were granted a corner kick. Ford lined up for the kick and sent it into the box where her teammate Kashka Gammon  jumped up to head it into the back of the AMCATS net. The Sharks took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

Simmons took 24 shots in the second half and finished on one opportunity with 12 minutes off the clock. Kneeland made the initial save before freshman Rachel Gilbert scored off of the rebound to take the 3-0 lead.

GOALKEEPERS

Kneeland had an outstanding showing in net as she made 26 saves. She ties her all-time high for saves in a game as she also posted 26 saves in the AMCATS 5-0 loss to Lasell on October 5th. Lauren Williams made two stops in net for the Sharks.
