AMCATS drop 1-0 in Double Overtime Thriller

PAXTON, Mass. – The Pride of Regis College picked up a hard fought 1-0 double overtime win over the AMCATS on Tuesday evening at AMCAT field.

With the win Regis improves to 2-2 overall while Anna Maria falls to 1-4 overall. 

STORYLINE

Regis outshot Anna Maria by a 44-9 margin overall (18-5 on goal) while holding a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.  It was a clean, hard fought game between both teams with seven fouls from the Pride and five called on the AMCATS while neither team was distributed a penalty.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Following two scoreless regular play periods and one scoreless overtime period, the Pride found an opening to score in the 100th minute of play. Junior Tais Salles (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) took a pass from Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) to bury the only tally of the game and give Regis the 1-0 victory over the AMCATS.

GOALKEEPERS

Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) kept the AMCATS in the gamewith an impressive 17 saves while Amanda Matias notched five saves for Regis.

WHAT'S NEXT

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday September, 17th to take on the Mustangs of Mount Ida College in GNAC play at 3:00 p.m. at Alumni field. The Pride hosts Suffolk at home at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
