Bottis Nets Two as Women's Soccer Claims 3-1 Win over Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass.—Junior Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College women's soccer team needed just over two minutes to score her first goal of 2016, netting the first of her two goals just 2:10 into the team's 3-1 victory over Dean College on Thursday afternoon.

THE BOOT ON BOTTIS

Bottis scored twice in the game, as she added the team's third tally and the only goal of the second half in the 71st minute on a one-on-one with Dean's goalkeeper.

Her first goal, at the 2:10 mark, was assisted by Courtney Ryan (West Baldwin, Maine). Following a Dean equalizer in the 24th minute, Ryan netted what would prove to be the AMCATS' game-winning goal as she poked in a goal off a corner kick by Bottis in the 42nd minute.

KNEELAND IN NET

Junior Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) opened the season on the right foot, stopping nine shots to earn her first victory in net for Anna Maria.

WHAT'S NEXT

The AMCATS have a quick turnaround as they travel to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game. Live video will be provided.
