Bottis Named GNAC Player of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—Junior Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College women's soccer team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

It marks the second time she has earned the league's top weekly honor in her career at Anna Maria, as she was named the Player of the Week last season on September 8, 2015.

BOTTIS'S WEEK

Bottis scored twice in the AMCATS' season opener against Dean, as she scored just 2:10 into the game and netted the team's third tally and the only goal of the second half in the 71st minute on a one-on-one with Dean's goalkeeper.

Following a Dean equalizer in the 24th minute, teammate Courtney Ryan netted what would prove to be the AMCATS' game-winning goal as she poked in a goal off a corner kick by Bottis in the 42nd minute.

WHAT'S NEXT

The AMCATS (1-1) return to action on Thursday when they host Newbury College in a 6:30 p.m. non-conference game. Anna Maria will open GNAC play on Saturday when they travel to Suffolk for a 1:00 p.m. start.
