Emmanuel Tops Women's Soccer, 6-0

BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Women's Soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 6-0 win over Anna Maria College at Roberto Clemente Field on Saturday afternoon. 

The win marked the Saints' seventh shutout of the season, boosting their record to 7-7-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.  Anna Maria fell to 2-10 on the season and 1-6 in GNAC play with the loss.

EMMANUEL LEADERS

The host Saints played an even match, notching a trio of goals in the first half and three more in the second, en route to 6-0 win. Seniors Courtney Freadman (Richmond, Mass.), Ashley Frank (Portland, Me.), Alison MacDonald (Peabody, Mass.) each celebrated their senior day with a goal apiece, while senior Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) dished out an assist in the win.

Also notching goals on the day for the Saints were freshmen Abba McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) and Shannon Sobstyl (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and sophomore Rachel Beliveau (West Springfield, Mass.).  Rookies Natalie Dash (East Hampton, Conn.) and Asi Graham (Dalton, Mass.) earned their first collegiate points, dishing out assists in the win.

GOALKEEPERS

Junior keeper Victoria LaRoche (Hudson, N.H.) picked up her 7th shutout of the season in net for EC.  Junior goalie Kate Kneeland (Windham, Me.) took the loss for the AMCATS, facing 32 Emmanuel shots and making 17 saves on the day.

WHAT's NEXT

The Saints will travel to Suffolk University for a cross town rivalry, slated to begin at 3:30 PM on Monday. The AMCats will play at Saint Joseph's College (Me.) on Columbus Day at 1:00 PM.
