Engineers Motor to 3-0 Win over Field Hockey

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Hope Shevchuk scored a pair of first half goals in a 3-0 victory over visiting Anna Maria Saturday at Alumni Stadium. With the win, the Engineers inch closer to .500 on the year with a 6-7 ledger and the AMCATS slip to 7-9 on the  season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The AMCATS played a mostly defensive game as The Engineers outshot them 21-1 (16-1 on goal). As a team, WPI was awarded all 14 of the game's penalty corners.

SCORING

Senior Allie Buckley dented the scoreboard first when she found the bottom left of the cage following a pass from junior Sabrina Guzzi at 17:47. Just over four minutes later, Shevchuk beat traffic from the top of the circle with help from junior Amanda Richards. Junior Izzy Garver was key in setting up Shevchuk's eighth of the year at 26:47.

Sophomore Sarah Coley (Worcester, Mass.) accounted for the only AMCAT shot, and shot on-goal, at 62:07.

GOALKEEPERS

Junior Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) stopped 13 shots and was aided by senior Katherine Albro (Leicester, Mass.), who made a defensive save. Freshman Emily Wilson only had to make one stop in her first career start and shutout.
