Sharks Swim Past Field Hockey 2-1

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, October 21st the Anna Maria College women's field hockey team hosted the Simmons Sharks for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the contest 2-1.

The AMCATS and the lasers would play the first frame to a scoreless draw that saw the Sharks fire five shots on the AMCATS net. The remainder of the first quarter was filled with fouls from both sides and included a penalty corner for the Sharks. In the second quarter, the Sharks opened the scoring and found the back of the net in the twenty first minute. The AMCATS would continue their stout defense however and end the half down 1-0. In the third quarter, the Sharks would again find the back of the net beating AMCATS goalie Carly Dedrick to take a 2-0 lead. In the fourth quarter however, the AMCATS would fight back netting a goal of their own in the forty seventh minute. That goal was scored by Eden Forget and was assisted by Meghan Sonia. In the end, the AMCATS would fall to the visiting Sharks 2-1. Stay tuned as your AMCATS field hockey team takes on Regis College on Tuesday, October 24th at 7:30PM for their final regular season game. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Carly Dedrick was strong in net for the AMCATS making 15 saves. 
  • Eden Forget was the lone goal scorer for the AMCATS.
