Pilgrims Drop Five On Field Hockey

HENNIKER, NH. – On Wednesday, October 19th the Anna Maria College Field Hockey team traveled to Henniker, NH to take on the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 5-0.

After a slow start to the first quarter, the Pilgrims would strike first with a goal from Emma Lapierre just under thirteen minutes into play. The Pilgrims goal would be the last recorded play of the first quarter. It wouldn't take long in the second quarter as the Pilgrims found the back of the net yet again off the stick of Mikayla Vincent just eight minutes into the quarter. The AMCATS would get their first and final shot on goal during the second quarter off the stick of Kennedy Etheridge. Unable to get much offense going, the AMCATS would close out the first half trailing behind the Pilgrims 2-0.

The second half of the game would not go well for the AMCATS. Just nine minutes into the half, the Pilgrims would put away their third goal of the night. Then four minutes later, the Pilgrims were back up on the board as Drea Chin buried back to back goals making it a 4-0 game with just a minute left to play in the third quarter. Still unable to get shots on net, the AMCATS spent most of the fourth quarter trying to fend off the Pilgrims. A late goal from Kate Bourgeois would give the Pilgrims their fifth goal of the night, adding some insurance as the clock wound down. The AMCATS would close out the game behind the Pilgrims 5-0.
