Field Hockey Opens GNAC with 3-0 Loss to Simmons

BOSTON, MA: The Anna Maria College field hockey team opened Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action when they took on Simmons College at the Daly Field Complex. AMCATS goalkeeper Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) once again set a career-high with 25 saves to keep her team in the game until the end. The AMCATS couldn't overcome the Sharks' 32-1 lead in shots and fell 3-0.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tobey had her fourth consecutive double-digit saves game to open the season.
  • Sophomore forward Carly Drew (Rochester, MA) was the only AMCATS semblance of offense as she took her team's only shot.
  • The Sharks were led by Anna Tedeschi who scored twice, the first only 2:47 into the game, assisted by Sydney Gonyea and Hannah Groves. Her second goal coming at the 18:44 mark in the second quarter, assisted by Aria Badra. Gonyea scored an unassisted goal of her own at 27:11 to cap out the game's scoring.

UP NEXT:

Anna Maria will be in action again on Thursday when they will close out their non-conference schedule when they will travel to Henniker, NH to play New England College. The teams will take the field for a 7 PM start.
