Field Hockey Scores Five On Blazers During Senior Day

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, October 14th the Anna Maria College field hockey team hosted the Elms College Blazers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 5-0.

The AMCATS set the tone early after Ashley Garcia buried the first goal of the day off a pass from Meghan Sonia just six minutes into the first quarter. Maintaining control for the rest of the first quarter, the AMCATS would hold onto their 1-0 lead going into the second quarter of play.

Carly Drew kept the ball rolling for the AMCATS with a penalty kick goal just five minutes into the quarter. Things would slow down for the remainder of the first half as the AMCATS held on to their 2-0 lead going into the intermission.

In true senior day fashion, Garcia tucked her second goal of the day with some help from August Otto to make it a 3-0 game just eight minutes into the second half. The AMCATS would then add some insurance in the fourth quarter as goalkeeper Hannah Tobey scored her first career goal while playing out in the field. Leading over the Blazers 4-0, the AMCATS manage one last goal with just a minute left to play as Senior Nicole Lacoste tucked in the AMCATS fifth an final goal of the day. The AMCATS closed out their senior day festivities with a 5-0 win over the Blazers. 

Congratulations to Seniors Eden Forget and Nicole Lacoste as well as Graduates Meghan Sonia, Ashley Garcia and Hannah Tobey on their incredible careers at Anna Maria. We thank you for all your contributions not only on the field but in the community as well.

• Four out of the five seniors had points during the match
• Hannah Tobey scored her first career goal as four year goalie for the AMCATS
• Ashley Garcia score her second and third goals of the season

WHAT'S NEXT

Field Hockey will be back in Action on Wednesday, October 18th where they will head to Henniker, NH to take on the Pilgrims of New England College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Game starts at 7:00pm.
