Field Hockey Get Second Win in As Many Days

NEW HAVEN, CT: The Anna Maria College field hockey team took on Albertus Magnus College on Friday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Celentano Field.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Friday, October 14, 2022
  • Score: Anna Maria 2, Albertus Magnus 0
  • Records: Anna Maria AMCATS 5-8 (4-4 GNAC) | Albertus Magnus Falcons 1-10 (1-7 GNAC)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hot off of a victory over the Regis Pride the night before, the AMCATS carried the momentum into their game at Albertus Magnus today and walked out with a 2-0 victory. The win evened the AMCATS record in GNAC play this year at 4-4.
  • Freshman midfielder Madison-Marie Romano (Lebanon, ME) gave the fans little time to get settled in their seats before she opened the scoring only 2:41 into the game. The AMCATS made the most of a short corner to the right of the goal and made the most of some crisp passes in front of the Falcons' net to set up Romano for her second goal in three games. The goal also extended her game with a point streak to three games following her assist against the Pride yesterday.
  • Junior midfielder Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) was credited with the assist on Romano's goal.
  • The AMCATS were able to double their lead less than five minutes later when graduate student forward Ashley Garcia scored an unassisted goal at the 7:10 mark. It was Forget again setting the table with a long entry pass into the circle that appeared to have been too hot for multiple Falcon defenders to handle but found itself on the end of Garcia's stick who put it in the lower left corner of the net. The goal was Garcia's team-high third of the season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Hannah Tobey recorded four saves to record her second shutout of the year. The win improved her season record to 5-8.
