Field Hockey Falls On The Road To Worcester State

WORCESTER, MASS.: The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team opened the 2022 season this evening with a 5-0 road loss to Worcester State.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria senior goalkeeper Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) tied a career-high with 12 saves. It was the third time in her career she has recorded a dozen saves, the last being against St. Joseph's (ME) on September 18, 2021.
  • The Lancers' senior forward Karalyn Jones (Wilbraham, MA) recorded the second hat trick of her collegiate career. Jones opened the scoring for the Lancers just over four minutes into the game when she scored unassisted. Jones also found the back of the net less than two apart towards the end of the second period, being assisted by Natalya Morin (Barre, MA) at 19:34 and then by Ali Roy (Paxton, MA) at 21:12.
  • Zoe Athanasopoulos (Hopedale, MA) scored at 13:53 and Molly Cutting (Auburn, MA) scored at 46:29 to account for the other Lancer goals. Both goals were unassisted.
