Assumption Rallies Past Men’s Ice Hockey

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team lost 3-2 to visiting Assumption University on Friday evening at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, Massachusetts.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The first period was action packed, with both teams scoring two goals apiece. Assumption junior forward Colin Philippon (Salem, NH) scored the first goal of the game 8:33 into the game off a power play on an unassisted shot.
• Anna Maria senior left defenseman Drew Goupille (Bedford, MI) tied it up for the AMCATS less than a minute later, assisted by freshman right wing Colby Wolter (Falun, AB) and senior center Quinn Tucker (Hancock, NH).
• With 7:36 to go in the first, Anna Maria senior left wing Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA) gave the AMCATS their first lead of the game, assisted by senior center and team captain Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC).
• Finally, with 5:03 to go in the first, Philippon scored his second goal of the game to tie it up at 2-2, assisted by senior forward John Pigott (Arlington, MA) and senior forward Dante Maribito (Georgetown, MA).
• After a scoreless second period, a penalty-riddled third period saw Assumption sophomore defenseman Camron Roberts (Old Lyme, CT) score the eventual game-winner on a four-on-four, assisted by senior defenseman Jared Bernis (Melrose, MA) with 10:41 to go. That would hold up for the final score of 3-2.
• Assumption outshot Anna Maria, 37-20.
