Men's Ice Hockey Skates Past JWU

PROVIDENCE, RI: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team won 6-4 at Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday evening.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria sophomore center August Bouveng (Nynashamns, SWE) got the AMCATS on the board with his first career goal, finding the back of the net on an unassisted shot just 53 seconds into the game.
  • 11:08 into the second period and tied at 1-1, Anna Maria freshman right defenseman Justin Taylor (Hammonds Plains, NS) scored the first goal of his collegiate career on a power play, assisted by sophomore center Matthew Gilbert (Wyandotte, MI) and senior center and team captain Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC) as the AMCATS retook the lead.
  • Anna Maria senior right-wing Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, IL) scored his second goal of the season with 1:45 left in the second for another power play goal, assisted by freshman right wing Colby Wolter (Falun, AB), putting the AMCATS ahead 3-2.
  • Taylor scored his second goal of the game 4:54 into the third, assisted by Bouveng and sophomore left wing Lukas Radina (Horazdovice, CZ).
  • Anna Maria junior right wing Michael Padgeon (Sellersville, PA) put the visitors up 5-2 5:20 in the third with his fifth goal of the year.
  • The AMCATS would finally put the game away with an empty netter by sophomore right defenseman Samson Mouland (Hay River, NT), assisted by Proeh. For Mouland, it was his first career goal.
  • Anna Maria senior goaltender Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) finished with 23 saves on the night.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they host Amherst for a 5:40 p.m. game.
