Men’s Ice Hockey Claims First Win Over SUNY Canton

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team won their first game of the season with a 1-0 victory over visiting SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Anna Maria freshman right wing Deklan Whillans (Grande Prairie, AB) scored his first career goal at the best possible time, scoring 7:18 into the second period on a goal assisted by sophomore center Matthew Gilbert (Wyandotte, MI) and senior left wing Aryan Batra (Franklin, MI).
• Anna Maria senior goaltender Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) picked up the shutout victory, tallying 28 saves on the day.
• SUNY Canton sophomore goaltender Filip Schlyter (Saltsjobaden, Sweden) tallied 27 saves.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Friday, November 19^th when they host Assumption University in a 5:40 p.m. game.
