Proeh Leads Men’s Ice Hockey Past Rivier

AUBURN, MA: The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team played their first home game in over a month and picked up a 6-2 win over against visiting Rivier University on Friday afternoon at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, Massachusetts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The AMCATS jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, and never looked back.
  • Anna Maria senior right-wing Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, IL) scored two goals on the day, including the eventual game-winner. The senior has now scored four goals in his last two games.
  • Anna Maria junior left defenseman Cam Tobey (Falmouth, MA) contributed a goal and two assists, scoring his first goal of the season.
  • Anna Maria senior left wing Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA) finished with a goal and an assist, while sophomore center Matthew Gilbert (Wyandotte, MI) and freshman right wing Deklan Whillans (Grande Prairie, AB) each scored as well.
  • Rivier avoided the shutout with goals from freshmen forwards Milan Breczko (Klasterec Nad Ohri, Czech Rep) and Ashton Jones (South Lyon, MI), both of those coming in the third period.
  • With the win, the AMCATS avenge a 4-3 loss at Rivier on December 3rd of this season.

Anna Maria will be back on the ice on Saturday when they travel to Stonehill for a 4:30 p.m. game.
