Women’s Basketball Rolls Over Bulldogs

FRANKLIN, MA: On Thursday evening, the Anna Maria College women's basketball team traveled to face off with the Dean College Bulldogs in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at the Pieri Gymnasium.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS broke out to an early lead, outscoring the host Bulldogs 24-7 in the first quarter. The AMCATS would go on to win all four quarters, with the second quarter 17-12 being the closest.
  • The AMCATS were strong on the defensive end, holding the Bulldogs to single digits in three of the four quarters.
  • The AMCATS early lead was powered by grad student guard Julitza Delgado (Southbridge, MA) who scored nine of her 11 points in the opening frame.
  • Junior guard Chloe Giordano (Goffstown, NH) led all scorers with a game-high 18 points. It was her highest-scoring game of the season and was one point short of her career-high 19 points scored against Regis on January 20, 2022.
  • Giordano wasn't the only junior guard who scored in double digits. She was joined by Gina Parmenter (Oxford, MA) who scored 16 points and just missed out on a double-double thanks to recording nine assists. Parmenter also tied with Delgado for a game-high five steals. The individual totals for both players were only one short of the Bulldogs team total of six.
  • Sophomore Marinique Reddin (Tampa, FL) rounded out the AMCAT quartet of double-digit scorers, finishing her team-leading 28 minutes with 10 points. each contributed eight rebounds to lead the AMCATS in that category.
  • Freshman center Sophie Law (Brookfield, MA) came off the bench to lead the AMCATS with nine rebounds.
  • The Bulldogs were paced by a double-double by guard Cat Thomas who scored 10 points while pulling down 12.

Anna Maria will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Boston to meet the Emmanuel College Saints in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at the Jean Yawkey Center. The teams will take the floor for a 3 PM tip-off.
