Women’s Basketball Drop Season Opener to Engineers

WORCESTER, MA: The Anna Maria College women's basketball team opened their 2022-23 season on the road when they faced off with Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Worcester City Tournament at the Harrington Auditorium on Friday evening.

THE BASICS:

HIGHLIGHTS

• The AMCATS kept the game close early but a 17-4 second quarter allowed the host Engineers to pull away.
• Sophomore guard Tamyiah Bankhead (Warrior, AL) led the AMCATS with eight points in only 13 minutes off the bench.
• Graduate student guard Julitza Delgado (Southbridge, MA) contributed seven points on 3-6 shooting while junior guard Gina Parmenter (Oxford, MA) added six points and five rebounds.
• The AMCATS were led by sophomore forward Marinique Reddin (Tampa, FL) with six boards while contributing five points.
• Victoria Mirecki paced the Engineers with 12 points in only 13 minutes on 5-6 shooting, Alice Kelly joined Mirecki as the only other player to score double digits with 10 points. Alex Scariati had nine rebounds and six assists to lead all players in both categories.
