Pilgrims Post Win vs Lady AMCATS

HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College women's basketball forward Taylor Burgess (Randallstown, Md.) would finish with a game-high 28 points on 13-for-15 shooting leading the Pilgrims past the visiting Anna Maria AMCATS 89-63 Sunday afternoon.

With the win the Pilgrims improve to 3-1 on the season, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 0-4 overall.

Leading the way for Anna Maria was Liz Sama (Windsor, Conn.) who finished with a team-high 11 points.  Anna Maria's Taylor Walker (Winchendon, Mass.) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with nine points and Kayla Cummings (Auburn, Maine) chipped in nine points for the AMCATS.

The two teams would battle evenly through the opening minutes of play before the Pilgrims would open the game up with a 13-6 run in the final four minutes of play to head into halftime up 41-30.  NEC finished the half with 17 points off Anna Maria turnovers, while NEC's Kate Levy (Woods Hole, Mass.) dropped in an impressive 16 first half  points.

The Pilgrims would build their lead to 26 points midway through the second half and grab their largest lead up 30 with just eight minutes remaining to play.  The AMCATS would battle back trailing by 23 points with 2:30 left on the clock but the Pilgrims would finish strong, shooting an impressive 52% from the field, capturing the 89-63 victory.

Levy would finish the game with 20 points and four assists, while first-year forward Allison Beck (Potomac. Md.) was the only other Pilgrim in double-figures chipping in 10 points.  NEC's Katarina Muska (Brimfield, Mass.) dished out a game-high nine assists to go along with seven points and five rebounds.

Anna Maria will take the court on Saturday, Dec, 1 when they travel to take on non-conference foe Becker College.
