Men’s Basketball Drops Close One to JWU

PROVIDENCE, RI: On Thursday, January 5th the Anna Maria men's basketball team traveled south to Providence, RI to face off against the Johnson and Wales Wildcats in a GNAC Conference competition. The AMCATS fell to the Wildcats 70-65. 

THE BASICS:

  • Records: Anna Maria AMCATS (1-11, 0-4 GNAC) | Johnson and Wales Wildcats (4-6, 2-3 GNAC)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Coming out of the first half of the game the AMCATS found themselves leading over the Wildcats 27-24.
  • Keeping things close at the start of the second half. the AMCATS battled back and forth with the Wildcats before quickly falling behind.
  • The AMCATS held behind the wildcats until 7:20 left in the half when a made free throw from Hayden Braga tied the game up.
  • The AMCATS went point for point with the Wildcats before falling behind yet another time.
  • Unable to scratch back the AMCATS closed out the game trailing by five points giving the Wildcats the victory.
  • Sean Zabari and Trevian Grenon led the AMCATS with 13 points a piece. Not far behind Gabe Armstead also collected double digits posting 11 points in the effort against the Wildcats.

Men's Basketball will be back in action on Saturday, January 7th where they will host the Albertus Magnus Falcons in the Fuller Gymnasium in Paxton, MA. Tip off for the game will be at 2:00PM.
