Lowe Named GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—Senior Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College field hockey team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It marks the third time this season that a member of the AMCATS' squad has earned Player of the Week honors.

Lowe scored two goals in both of the AMCATS wins this week, tallying two, including the game-winner, in Anna Maria's 3-0 win against Bay Path before scoring the first two goals of the game in the team's 3-2 overtime win against Lasell.

Against Lasell, Lowe scored in the 35th and 46th minutes to put the AMCATS up 2-0. The scores gave Anna Maria a 1-0 lead at halftime and a 2-0 lead for a majority of the second half, until Lasell scored twice in less than a minute to force overtime.

Lowe has been a consistent offensive force for the AMCATS in 2014. She has a team second-best 13 goals this season and is the team leader in assists with nine for a season-total of 35 points. With Saturday's start, she tied the program record for starts in a career, and entered the 2014 season as the program leader in assists. Two weeks ago, Lowe tallied her 100th career point.

The AMCATS (11-8, 3-3 GNAC) are idle until Saturday, November 1, when they enter the GNAC postseason as the No. 4 seed and host fifth-seeded Lasell in the GNAC First Round. Game time is slated for 11:00 a.m.
