Tigers Run to 3-0 Victory over AMCATS

THE BASICS:

Score: RIT 3, Anna Maria College 0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-13)

Records: RIT (4-2), Anna Maria College (3-3)

Location: Medford, Mass.

The Lead: The Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology took three sets from the Anna Maria College AMCATS on Friday night at Tufts University. Junior, Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) notched nine digs in the match and is now just eight digs away from her 1,000th career dig!

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-A trio of Tigers posted seven kills each on the night. Sara Taylor and Taylor Higgins both recorded seven kills and seven digs while Kristie Wheler notched seven digs.

-Erin Parkinson earned 21 assists to help lift RIT to victory.

-Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) led the AMCATS with nine kills on the night.

-Senior, Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) recorded 13 asssits in the loss while Garcia led all players with nine digs.

-RIT went on an 8-0 run to start the first set of the day before Anna Maria was able to break it up with a point off of a Tiger attack error.

-The AMCATS earned their next three points off of the opponents errors before Earle earned Anna Maria's first kill of the day was made by Kerri Earl (17-6).

-Anna Maria was able to go on a 4-0 run to come within nine points of the Tigers (17-8) but RIT put a quick end to their rally and took the final 25-10 victory in set one.

-The Tigers hopped on the board first in the second set to take an early 2-0 lead.

-Anna Maria took their first lead of the day in set two after a four-point rally (4-2), but RIT responded quickly to tie it up at 4-4.

-The AMCATS saw one more lead in the set but the Tigers took the close 25-21 victory.

-Anna Maria took the first lead of the match but a four-point rally and a five-point rally by the Tigers put the AMCATS out of reach. Anna Maria dropped set three by a final score of 25-13.
