Volleyball Goes 0-2 During Emmanuel Tri-Match

BOSTON, MA. – On Saturday, October 7th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Boston, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match with Emmanuel College and Albertus Magnus College. The AMCATS lost the first match 3-0 to Emmanuel while losing 3-1 in the second match of the day to Albertus Magnus.

The AMCATS started their day out against the Emmanuel College Saints. After a quick start in the first set, the Amcats would lead 2-0. A strong run by the Saints put the AMCATS behind 3-5 before a service error led to the AMCATS getting the ball back. The AMCATS continued to battle back and forth with the Saints before dropping the first set 25-16. The second set was similar to the first for the AMCATS, ultimately dropping the set 25-14. The AMCATS would not be discouraged however and would keep pace with the Saints in the third set of a match that would go back and forth. While the Saints would jump ahead during the match 10-6 the AMCATS would battle back to make it a one-point match, being down 12-13. In the end, the Saints would get the better of the AMCATS to take the third set and end the match. 

Things were much tighter for the AMCATS during their second match with the Falcons. Trailing 1-0 after a hard fought first set that ended 27-25 Falcons, the AMCATS managed to fight back in the second set to take a win by the score of 26-24. Following the win, the Falcons got back to work and scratched their way past the AMCATS to win both the third and fourth sets, 25-13 and 25-14 respectively. BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Julia Tarantino and Jana Hunt led the AMCATS with 12 and10 digs respectively in their first match against the Saints.
  • Hunt would total 18 kills on the day while Sarah Burt would total 16 kills on the day.
