PAXTON, MA—The Anna Maria College women's volleyball team hosted the UMass-Boston Beacons and the Mass-Maritime Buccaneers for a Tri-Match on Saturday, September 9th. The AMCATS lost to the Beacons in game one and one game two against the Buccaneers.
After a solid back and fourth start against the Beacons the AMCATS couldn't hold on falling short in the next two sets to lose to UMass 3-0.
-Sarah Burt led the AMCATS in game one against the Beacons with six kills on 21 attempts. Burt also tacked on a pair of aces and seven digs.
-Julia Tarantino tallied up eight assists and seven digs.
-Shae Savoie made four kills on 19 attempts.
The AMCATS came out flying in game two against the Buccaneers winning set number one 25-9. Anna Maria would move on to beat Mass-Maritime in the next two sets 25-20 in set number two and right down to the wire in set number three with a 25-23 victory to give the AMCATS their first win of the season.
-Savoie led the AMCATS in game two with thirteen kills on twenty six attempts, while also tallying 19 digs.
-Tarantino posted a season high of 23 assists against the Buccaneers.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
-Kevin Pender earned his first win at the helm of the women's volleyball team against the Buccaneers.
-Julia Tarantinos 23 assists would be here second highest single game ace total in her career at Anna Maria.
