Volleyball Comes From Behind For Road Win Over Falcons

FITCHBURG, MA — On Wednesday, September 20th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Fitchburg, MA to take on the Fitchburg State University Falcons for a non conference match. The AMCATS won the match 3-2.

After losing two straight sets to start the match, things were looking grim for the AMCATS as they entered set number three. However despite the slow start, the AMCATS were able to turn the jets on and managed a win in the third set to keep the match alive. Still in dangerous territory, the AMCATS needed to win the next set or suffer defeat. After a hard fought fourth set, the AMCATS came out on top tying things up at two sets a piece with the match coming down to the fifth and final set of the evening. The AMCATS would end up winning the fifth set 15-11 coming out with a 3-2 victory over the Falcons.

-Shae Savoie led the AMCATS with 16 kills on 41 attempts tacking on 17 digs in the process.

-Julia Tarantino put up an impressive 15 assists with Sarah Burt coming in second for the AMCATS with 12.

-Sarah Burt, Serena Dennis and Jana Hunt each had four aces in the win over the AMCATS.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

-This marks the AMCATS second win of the season.

-The AMCATS are 2-2 against the Falcons in their last four meetings.

-Shae Savoie leads the AMCATS with 60 kills so far this season in just seven matches played. 

UP NEXT

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday, September 25th where they will host Bay Path at the Fuller Gymnasium in Paxton, MA. The match starts at 6:00pm.
