Volleyball Can’t Hold On Against Lancers

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria College Women's Volleyball team hosted the Worcester State Lancers on Wednesday, September 6th for their home opener. The AMCATS lost the match 3-1.

A hard fought first set would end in the AMCATS favor with a score of 25-20, marking Anna Marias first set point of the season. Worcester State however would come back and take control during the second set with a score of 25-12. After a dominate performance from the lancers in the second set, the AMCATS rallied back, giving Worcester a run for their money in the third and fourth sets with final scores of 25-20 and 25-19. Despite holding their own in the second half of the match, the AMCATS could not come back and fell to the Lancers 3-1.

-Sarah Burt led the AMCATS with 45 total attempts and 9 kills.

-Julia Tarantino finished the match with 19 aces and 10 digs.

-Serena Dennis earned 20 digs in the match, two behind Burt who finished the evening with 22 total digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Shae Savoie made her "welcome home" debut after rejoining the AMCATS this fall.
  • The AMCATS are 0-3 in their last three meetings with the Lancers.
