AMCATS Fall to Wentworth, 3-0

THE BASICS:

Score: Wentworth 3, Anna Maria College 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21)

Records: Wentworth (5-0), Anna Maria College (3-2)

Location: Paxton, Mass. (Fuller Activities Center)

The Lead: Wentworth's Leah Rogoz and Claire Quick notched 12 kills each to lift the Leopards to victory over the AMCATS on Thursday evening at the Fuller Activities Center. Anna Maria senior, Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) led all players with 13 kills on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Leopards were led by Rogoz and Quick who each posted 12 kills in the victory. Rogoz also added 15 digs while Lillie Clark checked in with 14 digs and three aces for the visitors. Wentworth's Maddy Tomastik notched a game high 22 assists.

-Foti led the AMCATS with 13 kills to go along with 10 digs and one ace. Sophomore, Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) checked in with 21 assists and junior Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) led all players with 17 digs. Garcia also recorded two aces on the night.

-The Leopards took the first lead of the first set and never let it go. The AMCATS came within reach when they tied it up 7-7 but that was as close as the visitors let them get. Wentworth took a significant 25-16 victory in set one before downing the AMCATS by a score of 25-15 in set two.

-The AMCATS took their largest lead of the day in set two when they went up 4-1 following an ace by Foti.

-The AMCATS came alive in the last set of the day as the fell by just four points (25-21). Despite being down by eight points at one point, Anna Maria never gave up and came back within two following two, three-point rallies.  

-An ace by Clancy gave the AMCATS hope when they brought the score to 23-21 but Quick tallied two kills in a row to clinch the third set for Wentworth.

The AMCATS travel to Tufts University to take on Rochester Institute of Technology tomorrow, September 8th at 5:00 p.m. Wentworth hosts WPI on Saturday, Sept. 9th at 11:00 a.m.
