Volleyball Sweeps Salem State, 3-0

SALEM, Mass. -- The Anna Maria College volleyball team swept the Vikings of Salem State (25-8, 25-22, 25-18) Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Twohig Gymnasium.

With the win, the AMCATS enhance their reocrd to 7-7 on the season, while the Vikings drop to 1-6.

Freshman Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) led the attack for the AMCATS with eight kills and two aces while teammates Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, Mass.) and Jacqueline Clinton (Walpole, Mass.) combined for 14 kills. Junior Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) dished out 18 assist as Anna Maria sailed to their 3-0 victory.

Emily Peay (Lebanon, Conn.) added nine kills and one ace for the Vikings in their efforts. Also for Salem State, Sarah Collins (Grafton, Mass.) contributed with five kills. Kelly Tanner (Wellesley, Mass.) led all players with 10 digs and chipped in 14 assists in the Vikings' loss.

Anna Maria totaled a .125 hitting percentage over the three-game match, including a game-best .231 in the third set (11 kills, five errors, 26 attempts). Salem State recorded a negative hitting percentage on the evening, as they finish with 27 errors in 78 attempts.

The Vikings will travel to take on Emerson College Saturday, October 4th at 10:00 am while the AMCATS play the Leopards of Wentworth College on Thursday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm.
