Lady AMCATS Drop Season Finale

BOSTON, Mass. – With every player on the roster putting up points on the day, the Emerson Women's Basketball Team closed out their 2011-2012 regular season with a 75-52 win over the visiting Anna Maria AMCATS Saturday afternoon. The win pushes the Lions to 9-16 on the year and 6-7 in the conference.

The first half saw the Lions take off out of the gate as Olivia DiNucci started getting heated up early with 11 points while her name twin Olivia Connors put up six of her own which she matched on the boards as well. Overall the Lions lit up the boards as they pulled down 24 in the half, seven of which were offensive, which Emerson collected seven points off of.

The AMCATS scrapped back with nine points coming from Katie Pryor and five from Chelsea Blair, but he Lion D threw them for a loop forcing 10 turnovers which they also turned into two points as they ran off with a 33-25 lead at the half.

Second half the Lions brought the noise on offense as they hit 45% of their shots with every player on the team scoring in the half. Junior captain Amy Sherman broke out for nine points in the half as well, going a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc.

AMC senior Samantha Ashton (Worcester, Mass) scored a team-high 15 points in her last game as an AMCAT. Fellow teammate Katie Pryor  was also in double figures with 14 points and Chelsea Blair had a team-high 8 rebounds.

The loss finishes the AMCATS season with a final record of 5-20 overall and 1-12 in the GNAC.
