Cooper Named ECFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

Full ECFC Release

PAXTON, MA : Senior defensive back Darrin Cooper (Fulton, NY) of the Anna Maria College football team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending November 14, 2021.

Cooper made one of the most explosive plays of the game in the AMCATS' 31-7 win over SUNY Maritime this past Saturday. With 10:28 to go in the third quarter and Anna Maria clinging to a 10-7 lead, the Privateers of Maritime were lining up for a 20-yard field goal to tie it up. Anna Maria senior defensive lineman Alvin Martin (Philadelphia, PA) got a hand up and blocked the kick, which was recovered by Cooper and returned 83 yards for a touchdown to put the AMCATS ahead 17-7. From that point, it was all Anna Maria as the game ended with the AMCATS hoisting their first ECFC Championship in school history.

It is the third time this season an AMCAT has been named the ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
